Silverdale is in the Wollondilly Shire, around thirty minutes from the city of Camden and close to the historic township of Warragamba which is the main supplier of Sydney’s water.
The town was settled in 1828 when it was known as “Mulgoa Forrest”.  The building of the dam increased the town’s development although it was isolated from the Penrith City area.
The town is due to increase in the future because a number of housing estates are planned for the area.
The make up of the town is as follows:
31.2% Older couples and families
28.1% Established couples and families
13.2% Maturing couples and families (ie younger children)
